Our enthusiastic and friendly training practice is one of 4 practices contained within a purpose-built Health Centre in the heart of Port Glasgow. We are an urban practice with a list size of approximately 3900 patients. The Health Centre was built in 1978 and to facilitate our GP training, we relocated in April 2009 to refurbished premises within the Health Centre. As a result of this the GP registrar now has a dedicated consulting room.
Our Health Centre has physiotherapy, dentistry, social work, speech and language therapy and chiropody services on site. In addition to this there is an excellent smoking cessation service locally and we have access to the Glasgow Weight Management Service and the Live Active scheme for our patients.
Amongst our practice staff we have 4 GPs (2 Full-Time and 2 Part-Time), a Practice Nurse, Staff Nurse, Practice Manager and 4 Reception Staff.
Attached to the practice we also have 2 District Nurses, 2 Health Visitors , a Midwife, a Community Pharmacist and 2 Community Psychiatric Nurses.
Additionally we share Treatment Room facilities with the other practices within the Health Centre.
As a practice, we have a longstanding undergraduate teaching commitment to the University of Glasgow. As such, we have students on placement from years 3-5.
Dr Wilkie is our Lead Trainer and Dr Pope is our Deputy Trainer. That said, all the partners, Sister Wilkie and our practice manager, Tracey Gibb, are all committed to and actively involved in the training of the GP registrars.
The area served by Dr Wilkie & Partners is in the district covered by The Healthcare & Social Care Partnership which is responsible for ensuring you receive all the services you need. Click the link below for details of all primary care services in the area.
